Can you believe its 2018 already? The past few years have flew by for me and I suspect the next few years will continue to fly by. I am one of those people that love resolutions and thinking about my hopes for the future when January comes around.

In 2017 I cut down my spending a lot. I stopped buying things I didn’t really need, like clothes or makeup and stuck to only replacing things I really needed. All of the money I saved went on holidays (NYC, Boston, Connecticut, Dublin, Aviemore and Piperdam). So as much as my bank balance didn’t improve, I definitely reaped the benefits. In 2018 I am going to Milan in January and Rome in March so I need to save money for them. I’m also planning on a trip elsewhere but I’m saving for a house deposit too, so I’m not sure where I’ll go yet or what the budget is. Our options are; screw the house and go to Australia / New Zealand – or – be sensible and go a smaller holiday and get the deposit faster. Whatever we decide, I still need to save.
For years now I’ve been saying I want to do a
self-defence course and 2018 is the year. I was attacked in Glasgow a
few years ago by a man who was just out of jail for a sexual assault charge. He was jailed for the attack on me but the
helpless feeling has always stayed with me. I never
had the confidence to do it but I’m forcing myself to go in 2018. I am
looking forward to feeling safer when I am alone, as sad / pathetic as
that might sound!
Health wise, 2017 was a rough one for me. I had 2
operations and I caught every bug going round because my immune system
was at a low point. I’m hoping that’s me done and I can finally have
energy again! I found out in December that
I am vitamin B12 deficient which would explain why I’m so tired all the
time but I’m on medication so I should see an improvement in energy
levels soon. 2018 will be a healthy year for me!
As a long standing veggie who never ate cheese and
rarely ate eggs, I was an almost-vegan. I’m slowly cutting out milk and
milk products from my diet and hope to make the transition to vegan in
the near future. Some people can do it overnight,
I wish I could! I have dramatically cut down my milk intake to almost
nothing, so I’m not far off it. in 2018 I’m looking forward to having a
completely plant based diet and (hopefully) feeling better for it.
I think 2018 will be the time where I finally trade
Bruce the Astra in and get another car. Bruce has been my friend and
chariot for 5 years now and been the best first-car ever but I’ll need
to move on sooner or later.
What are you looking forward to in 2018?
