How to optimise your hair masks!

I thought I'd share some tips with you all to get super soft and healthy hair!

So many people spend a fortune on hair masks but don't use it to the best of it's ability, which is a shame!

No matter what products you use on your hair, expensive or cheap, you need to give it time to soak in. Leave it on your hair as long as possible. At least half an hour. I usually try and leave mines on for an hour-ish, just to make sure it really works!

  • Apply conditioner to dampened hair (or washed, whatever you prefer). Use A LOT of product. and try and cover every part of your hair from root to ends.
  • Once you put the product onto your hair, tie it back in a towel / cling film / tin foil.

I know the latter 2 might sound strange but they work best! They hold the heat into your head and the heat helps the hair soak more of the product up. I prefer cling film the most. I cling film my head until I look bald, then put a turbie towel over that. It works a treat! Not very sexy.... but I promise it works!

  • Once you have left the product on as long as possible, wash the hair twice to get all of the product out.  Then condition only the mid lengths and ends of the hair.
  • Do this at least once a week.

I swear by this method! My hair was wrecked due to bleaching my hair from red to platinum blonde and this saved it.

I know a lot of people advise against conditioning the roots of the hair but as I coloured my whole head I wanted to nourish my whole head of hair.  Nowadays I have ombre hair so I don't necessarily need to condition my roots but I will do it occasionally, just to give it a little boost.  If you find that your hair gets weighed down by conditioning the roots then just smother the mid lengths and ends.

I chop and change between hair masks so I never stick to just 1 particular brand but I even use Boots own brand conditioner at £1 sometimes. Use whatever product you like best!

  6. This is such a good idea! I usually use a shower cap but it can be itchy and uncomfortable. I swear by the 'turbie towels' too, I have them in pink, mint and white haha :) xx
