Dainty Doll Liquid Foundation Review Shade 2

This little gem cost £22 from Boots and I have to say, it was so refreshing to see it in mainstream shops as opposed to only online... but last time I went onto the Boots website this was no longer listed and nobody seems to know if it has stopped being sold there or not. Only the biggest Boots seem to have this in store and I haven't seen any of the DD range ones I have been in recently, but then again that doesnt mean Boots have stopped selling it. Does anyone know for sure?

Anyway, lets get on with the review!

I have been wanting to try Dainty Doll foundations for such a long time!  You may have noticed I am very pale, paler than most drug stores and high end products.  I use a mix of high and low end foundations but I mix (most of) them with Illamasqua white foundation to lighten them up.  Only 2 or 3 fooundations I have tried in my life match me perfectly.  So, I thought Dainty Doll might be my answer as these are specially made by Nicola from Girls Aloud to suit the palest of pale girls.  Here came my problem... I always go for the palest shade in the range but I thought the palest Dainty Doll would be *gasp* too pale! I got myself some samples of Shade 2 and Shade 3 and I must say both are good!  There isn't much of a difference between them but I went for Shade 2 in the end.

I love it! It's such a novelty for me to use a foundation straight from the bottle!  It saves a lot of time in the morning as I don't have to mix it. It also matches my skin perfectly, another novelty!

It isn't the easiest of foundations to blend as it dries quickly but it's not too bad.  I find that it does on much easier with my Real Techniques Buffing Blush compared to a usual style foundation brush.  I then go over my t-zone with my RT Stippling brush (review here) just to work it in a little bit more. It doesn't take me too long and it looks gorgeous once it's on!

It has a medium to full coverage I'd say, it's a little more than I'm used to but I do like it.  Most of the time. It covers imperfections well and gives a good flawless base.  I find that some days it feels a little too heavy for during the day but that might be because I usually go for light foundations.

As for longevity, it does really well! It lasts me all day easily and my oil / shiny tzone doesn't break through. I've never tried it on a night out dancing yet but I think it would be ok as long as I built it up a little more than my usual day-face.

I like the packaging as it's a pump bottle.  I use 2 or 3 pumps on my face each day. Aesthetically, I'm not too fussed. It's a pretty nice bottle but I'm not bothered about it, as long as it does it's job I'm happy!

I am in love with it and I will definitely buy this again.  If I can get my hands on another bottle that is!

  1. I know Dainty Doll is on Fragrance Direct for really cheap (not this foundation though) and it's been popping up in TK Maxx and pound shops, so you might be able to track it down for much less than RPP :) The only thing is, because it's been appearing in loads of bargain shops, that suggests the brand might be going under, so you might not be able to get this foundation anymore. Maybe stock up on eBay? x x x

    1. I noticed that! I got some stuff from FD, was so gutted they didn't have this foundation! I was wanting to stock up as it is looking like its not gona be around much longer :( I havdn't thought of ebay... Im gona go have a look :D xox

  2. I wish Dainty Doll was still easily available like it used to be. I'm really pale like yourself but have never gotten round to trying their foundation. I really want to try this one having read your review though.
