Update on wee Blu

A quick recap for my newer followers - I rescued a dog in June.  She's a retired greyhound racer, 4 years old and appears to have been abused.   At first when she came to my house she didn't play because she never knew how.  Seriously, all of her life she has been ignored and used to make money.  She is scared of everyone, especially strangers and starts shivering at loud noises.  She didn't leave her bed for a month.  She seemed sad all the time and we were all at a loss about what to do.

But, I am so so happy to let everyone know that she is finally coming out of her shell.  A little.

She's still nervous and is only at ease with a handful of people but when she's around the people she trusts she is a total sweetheart.  She runs to me when I walk in the door and actually wants attention now rather than shying away from it.  She loves her toys now too!   Still confused about the purpose of balls, but adores her teddies.

I am so so happy.  I love seeing her personality come out and can't wait to see what the future has in store for her.

After Goldy was put down in February my heart was broken and I felt terribly lonely.  My wee Blu has changed that.  I still miss my best friend of 16 years but I'm slowly gaining a new one <3

Plus, doesn't she have the most gorgeous little face in the world?

  1. She is so beautiful! I've always wanted a rescue greyhound, but was outvoted by the rest of the family, so we got a lab pup instead. Don't get me wrong, I love my Dex more than anything, but I have always wanted a rescue greyhound, and when I have my own place that allows dogs I will definitely do it.

  3. Blu is gorgeous!!! my last cat was a rescue kitten and even though we got her when she was very young she would always jump at loud noises and didn't like strangers. I think when animals have been through a horrible time then they don't ever forget it. Its great to rescue a pet and give them a good life!! Feel proud that you are slowly getting Blu better! she will soon be your very best friend!

Great post! cant wait to here more! :D

  9. Our pup is a Treeing Walker Coonhound that was ditched at our place by some hunter because he is scared of gunshots. Cute thing had two kinds of worms and a skin condition, took over $1000 in vet bills to fix him!
