If you haven't, you really really really have to go and get acquainted with them, Steig Larsson is amazing.
The 3 books follow the life of Lisbeth Salander, the mentally unstable computer hacking goth, and as the books go on, they unravel how her past is having a major affect on her present.
The films go in the following order:
- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
- The Girl Who Played with Fire
- The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest
These books have everything you could ask for; romance, crime, lies, violence, true-life facts and some good old fashioned twists.
Note: there are some quite graphic chapters that include sex abuse. Its not nice reading, but it's integral to the storyline.
I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will only say that you are missing an amazing trilogy if you overlook these.
